About Civil Engineering (NBA Accredited)

The Civil Engineering Department was established in the year 1965 and is now recognized as one of the leading departments with infrastructure and facilities to match the very best in the country. The department provide students with the fundamental knowledge and problem solving skills in the field of Civil Engineering required for a fulfilling career and to create and disseminate knowledge to improve Civil Engineering research, education and practice.

The Civil Engineering Department of the Institute has produced so many technocrats who are serving the country as well as successfully settled in abroad. The department has been involved with so many research works and produced some excellent outcome. The department is presently associated different developing activities as well as innovation of construction materials. Some of the faculty members are coordinating different technical bodies of the state, Tripura and the region. The department presently acting as the State Referal Institute (SRI) for Water Quality Monitoring of the state. The department is acting as State Technical Agency(STA), Tripura constituted by National Rural Road Development Agency (NRRDA), New Delhi for scrutiny of the Detail Project Report (DPR) of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The department is also acting as the State Resource Institute for Earth Quake and Disaster Mitigation and Management of the state.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • To empower students for attaining competence in identifying, formulating and solving Civil Engineering problems by applying their knowledge in the field of science and computation skills to meet the challenges, demands and expectations of global society.
  • To establish an understanding of professionalism, ethics, quality performance in order to become professional leaders and contributors to the society.
  • To initiate program for life- long learning that provides continuous development of the technical abilities and professional skills.
  • To develop communication skills in every mode so as to become successful professionals and entrepreneurs.
  • To encourage the students in developing public policy, safety and sustainability to be a professional in solving Civil Engineering problems and producing solutions.
  • To instill skills to analyze and design systems, specify project methods and manage technical activities in support of Civil Engineering projects.

  • Analysis, Design, investigation of complex problems in ways which are sustainable and environmental friendly.
  • Handling of any Civil Engineering projects ethically either as an individual or as a team.

  • Plantation Drive "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam"

    The plantation drive has been scheduled for the 10th of September 2024 (Tuesday) from 9.30 am onwards in the front premises of the Civil Engineering Department. This is in line with the campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" launched by our Honourable Prime Minister to support the World Environment Day Celebration: An invitation to plant a tree on the corning days as a tribute to our Mother.

  • WORKSHOP on Tripura Energy Conservation Building Code & Green Building compliance

    The improvement in the energy landscape with energy efficient buildings canhave alargeenvironmental impactandcontributiontowards National Determined Commitments (NDCs) with sustainable development of the country’s building sector. The 5 (five) days workshop – Training Program is meant to build capacity on Tripura Energy Conservation Building (TRECBC) and Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) concepts, implementation and compliance in the State. Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) master trainers will conduct the sessions on various aspects of design and construction material requirements of a TRECBC compliant buildingproject

  • One Day Seminar on ADVANCES IN GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING -2024 (AGE -2024)

    The programme is a One Day Seminar hosted by Indian Geotechnical Society Agartala Chapter in association with Civil Engineering Deptt . , National Institute of Technology Agartala with the intention of creating and providing a platform for national -level scientists, engineers, industrialists, researchers and students to share, expand and impart their knowledge in the field of latest development of Geotechnical related issues . The programme will feature technical presentations, and interactive forums that will bring together various stake holders and professionals in the field of Geotechnical Engineering who will discuss and debate upon the various methods and techniques available, and explore various, innovative, economical and sustainable solutions on the Advances in Geotechnical Engineering .

  •  Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Agartala in association with the Civil Engineering Club is organizing a semester-long Friday Lecture Series, “ The Friday Talks 2024”. A series of lectures with experts from diverse areas will be delivered on Fridays in physical and virtual mode starting January 2024. Veteran academicians, field professionals from diverse areas, spiritual leaders, motivational startup personalities (including Bollywood artists), and successful entrepreneurs will join the event as guest speakers. This lecture series aimed toward the holistic development of skills and minds of budding engineering graduates of our nation beyond classroom teachings. This also envisaged to fulfill the mission of “Vikshit Bharat 2047”.
